Altar server (acolyte) girl statue
An acolyte or an altar server is appointed by the Church to assist the priest. Attends the service of the altar and assists during the celebration of the Mass, by carrying a processional cross, lighting or holding candles, and holding the Gospel book. Also assists in cleaning up the altar, swinging a censer and several other duties. The word acolyte derives from the Greek word Akolouthos, which means attendant follower.
