Saint Philomena

Very little is known about the life St. Philomena. In 1802, workmen discovered the tomb of a young girl in the catacombs in Rome. There were three tiles bearing the words “Peace be with you, Philomena,” along with symbols: an anchor, a palm branch, arrows, and a flower. They realized that St. Philomena was a martyr, or someone who gave their life for Jesus. After the discovery, many people began asking for the help of St. Philomena and were healed of sicknesses. St. John Vianney loved her very much and helped to spread devotion to her in France. Today, people still ask for the help of St. Philomena all over the world.
